Telenor awarded ICT contract
Norwegian telecom giant Telenor won the coveted informatin and communcation technology contract for the new St. Olavs Hospital in cooperation with multi-national Hewlett Packard.
Telenor defeated Ementor and Siemens to win the contract for supplying and integrating information and communication technology for the new hospital. Total contract value may exceed NOK 1 billion by the time the project is finished.

The contract includes patient terminals (from Norwegian Cardiac), medical terminals (HP Infopaq), PCs (HP), routers (Cisco), telephone, radio-TV systems and audiovisual equipment for the medical school. The contract also includes integration of all these systems. IP networking will be used for all communication systems throughout the hospital.
The Hospital of the Future
The future hospital is visualized with doctors moving around to bring care to the patient, and medical information will have to follow. Wireless networks will provide the infrastructure for patient information, according to Telenor's vision "Ideas that simplify". Telenor has already implemented similar solutions for its own headquarter and regional headquarters.
"We are very proud to be a partner in this project, and awed by the task ahead of us. Telenor and HP have previously been successful in implementing the new ICT infrastructure at Fornebu, and we have a lot of valuable competency and experience in carrying out large projects together", says Frode Haugli, CEO of HP Norway.
