"The Danish hospital system shall be secured for the future. The government and the Danish Regions are in agreement that there is a need for ambitious structural changes and investments in order to reach a common goal regarding a modern hospital system with highly specialized sections, ensuring patients better treatment. The government will therefore – as a part of the quality reform – set aside 25 billion kroner for investments and new constructions in the Danish hospital sector.”
To ensure that development meets the demands for ”quality, financing and increased productivity”, the government is appointing a panel of experts who will deliberate each of the concrete projects, but also whether each of the projects is feasible according to the total structural development within the health system.
“I see this as recognition of the work that has been done to develop more future-oriented and patient-friendly architectural solutions at St.Olavs Hospital. I look forward to tackling the issues,” says Ragnhild Aslaksen.
The panel consists of:
- Erik Juhl, Head of Research and former director of the Copenhagen Health Authority
- Kjeld Møller Pedersen, health economist, professor
- Ragnhild Aslaksen, Chief Architect, the Hospital Development Project for Central Norway
- Bo Brismar, Head Doctor of the local government (Landstinget) for the Stockholm Region
- One member yet to be appointed.
”The historic leap into the future of the Danish Hospital System will surely be helped along by a group of experts, which both have an understanding of treating patients, building hospitals and ensuring better frameworks for effective production with goal-oriented investments. The goal is to ensure that the physical surroundings are enjoyable to both patients and personnel”, says the Danish Minister of Health, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, about his panel.
