“We take over this building and an infrastructure that many parts of the world can only dream of. We will never experience this again in our lifetimes”, said Managing Director Gunnar Bovim of St. Olavs Hospital during the transfer ceremony in the Gastro Centre.

Bovim was also generous with praise for the Hospital Development Project for Central Norway, believing that the level of quality was extremely good, both for those who will work and those who will be treated at the Gastro Centre.

“Naturally, it’s easy to get caught up in details, but we won’t bother with them now that we’ve got such a fantastic building construction,” professed Bovim.
For his part, Stig Slørdahl, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at NTNU, looked forward to taking over "the academic floor".

The Gastro Centre is the first building of the new hospital that completely unites research and teaching on one floor. The University areas (on the 3rd floor) are connected by glass skywalks between the Phase II Centres.

“This single-floor solution affords even better integration between the hospital and the university than in Building Phase I. This will be a very exciting arena for the Faculty of Medicine”, said Slørdahl.

The Managing Director of the Hospital Development Project for Central Norway, Johan Arnt Vatnan, was happy to be able to hand over the Gastro Centre precisely on the planned date. He was proud of the entrepreneurs who had delivered on time and of St. Olav/NTNU, which "had driven" the Hospital Development Project, so that the day’s transfer had been possible.

“The Gastro Centre must have Mid-Norway world record for timely completion. There are not many places that can run a new hospital the day after delivery”, said the head of the Development Project.

St. Olavs Hospital will nonetheless delay the move until after Easter. April 23rd the hospital will begin moving in stages into the Gastro Centre’s east and north wings. The south wing is already in use as temporary localities, while the centre’s central wing is under full rehabilitation - with delivery right before Christmas of this year.
