The Heart of the New Hospital

Olav Kyrres* Plaza will be established at the center of the hospital area by 2013. The large open plaza will be very important for orientation and identification in the new hospital precinct. See the new photo mock-ups from Asplan Viak.

	From the east, the plaza spreads between the Mobility Centre (left) and the Knowledge Centre (to be completed fall 2013). Harald Hardradas street in front.

	From the south, looking towards the Knowledge centre from a vantage view on the Mobility Centre roof, the throughgoing Olav Kyrres street and the urban plaza are clearly visible.

	From the nortwest, looking across the plaza from the sidewalk cafe in front of the Gastro Centre. The sun is just dipping down behind the city mountains and the helipad throws long shadows across the plaza.

	From the northeast, looking towards the Heart-Lung Centre. At night, the corner towards the plaza is lit in red to signal the location of the City's emergency walk-in clinic.

*Olav Kyrre was the third Olav of Norway, and started the construction of Nidaros Cathedral. His grandmother Åsta was the mother of two kings, St. Olav and Olav Kyrre’s father Harald Hardrada, from two separate marriages.
