Phase II

Building phase 2 commences late 2006, when the buildings vacated by the completion of Phase I are available for demolition. Most of the new hospital is completed by 2011. Then the old high-rise is demolished and the final centre erected.

The overall structure continues as pattern of city blocks facing a central square. Total building area in phase II is over 100.000 sq.m. (including 10.000 sq.m. rehab), but more than 85% of the existing hospital is demolished. Only the newest (oncology building, 1985) and oldest (old main, 1902) buildings remain.
